What happens after an employee is injured?

- The police will collect the initial information to forward to the Public Prosecutor's Office;
- The safety inspector will request documents and hear witnesses, then will be able to impose requirements and request the payment of fines;
- Based on the information received, the Public Prosecutor's Office may initiate proceedings against the employer and in some cases also against the company. In more serious cases, it may request the suspension of business;
- The lawyer of the injured employee will seek compensation for damages;
- INAIL, the Italian Institute for the Prevention of Accidents at Work, will request reimbursement of the payment made to the injured worker;
- Insurance experts will ask for details on the incident;
- The insurance adjuster will want all the information necessary to decide whether to pay compensation or deny it.
